  • What payment methods do you offer?

We offer all methods of payment - cash, credit card, eftpos, business cheque and direct debit. JREs preferred method of payment for tuition fees is via direct debit.  Not only is the direct debit payment very convenient for students in that it offers them a set and forget method of payment; it also offers students huge discounts on JRE classes.

  • I want to be on JRE's televison productions, how do I go about it?

That's great news. The television productions are filmed in Melbourne and are exclusive to JRE students, so, you would have to reside here or be happy to make your way to JRE headquarters for weekly rehearsals and lessons. Once you join JRE for weekly classes, you will be eligible to attend one of JRE's audition days. If your audition is successful, Jamie will help take you through all you need to know in relation to rehearsals, costuming, film dates etc.

  • What other performance opportunities do you offer and how can I take part in them?

Participation at mid year and end of year JRE productions is compulsory, unless you are only taking non concert classes. JRE is all about building self-confidence in it's students through first class performance skills training, and once students have begun to learn these skills in class, JRE encourages them to bring them to life via live performances. Our very own dynamic performance group rehearse and then presents fantastic live performances at local shopping centres and events around Melbourne throughout the year, and during the month of December each year all JRE students take part in numerous events to benefit the local community.  Weekly rehearsals are offered on our timetable and we recruit from our current students.  We recruit all year round so check your regular emails regarding audition notices or inquire direct with RE at any other time.

  • I wish to know if you offer examinations and assessments?

Yes, we certainly do. We offer classical ballet examinations under the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus at the discretion of the teacher and JWDC principal, and the school's principal Judy Ward currently has a 100% pass rate. Many students have realised high distinctions under the JWDC system. Students taking singing and performance lessons under Jamie Redfern are offered voice and performance assessments totally free of charge but must request this service directly with Jamie Redfern.

  • Can I transfer classes to other students if I wish?

Yes, that's fine also, so long as this only happens at the end of a term in preparation for a new term, and not in the middle of a term. Transferring classes past the middle of any given year is not acceptable due to the problems caused in relation to pre set concert and event choreography etc. Please remember that you will be in effect cancelling your current agreement with JRE and as such there is a break fee of $300.00 you must also absorb to transferr to another class. At JRE we do our best to discourage people from changing classes as this can have a very destructive and destabilising effect on the class in question.

  • Are there any guarantees that if I change my mind, I can get my money back?

Yes, certainly. JRE guarantees that should you change your mind within 2 days of initial registration and inform us in writing strictly via our parent communication book available from JRE reception, you can exercise the JRE 2 day cooling off period and receive all your money back less any classes taken and a small administration fee - no questions asked.

  • Do you offer concerts and when do they take place?

Yes, we do. JRE concerts are compulsory unless you are only taking non concert JRE classes. We offer two different styles of concerts at the school. They take place at selected professional venues around Melbourne. JRE concerts take place in June/July (mid year performance) and November/December (dancing, singing and acting - variety performance).

  • Do I have to do sewing of costumes for my child when we join?

No you don't ! All JRE dance students purchase their own professionaly designed costumes chosen by JRE. You then get to keep your costume for use in the future.  The cost for each costume is payable via 10 monthly direct debit payments (commencing on the 7th of February each year) or in one lump sum payment at the end of Term 1.  You do not have to sew !

  • Where do I get the class uniforms?

You order the official uniform directly from JRE's very own Star Quality Discounted Dancewear shop directly from us within one month of beginning classes at JRE, making your registration and commencement of classes very easy and convenient. We also offer a second hand service for shoes - which is also another cost effective and convenient way to commence your classes with JRE. Once your uniform order arrives, we will contact you to come and pick it up or mail it to you for a small postage and administration charge.

  • I want to be a teacher one day, do you offer employment opportunities through your school?
